ART FIGHT 2023 BABY!!!!

A bit late but yaknow lmao

I've been asked about this last year as well so to clear confusion -- Art Fight is an annual event that happens every July where artists are divided into two teams. The teams gather points for the artworks that artists do against other teams. So if I'm team Werewolves I get points for 'attacking' (drawing OCs) someone on the team Vampires. However, friendly fire is allowed! The only thing is that you get less points for attacking someone on your own team.

Heya lads, I don't update these often but today I came in realization that I designed this Gamer years ago today!

Literally, this concept art that popped in my head on my walk one time? Year old, that's when I wrote a script for the animation and everything! The animation I'm talking about is this one if anyone missed >>

The best part about it is the fact this became my first properly original 'toon that got frontpaged on this website which inspired me to continue working on more for him!

I DO actually have something cooking, been at it for couple of months but didn't have enough time to make it last year. Hopefully once I'm done with this semester this bad boy animation will be dropped [: (It might actually end up being 3 minutes long which I didn't anticipate on lmao)

Like last year, I did a year summarization of my works, things I'm proud of and resolutions I'd like to do. However, don't think I have anything from resolutions I could do; after all, in September I'll be in 4th year of my animation course! No time for myself, only working on the grad film!

As for now, I can appreciate the little time I have to even make this journal in the first place haha

Starting off, my art summary I compiled this year 👇👇

In comparison to previous year I've decided to work more on rendering my pieces a bit differently, using cel shading as a base but then painting over for a nicer look! I'd say, last few months I may not have been as active but I did make some cool works [:

Last year I did top fives, so I can do a little info dumping on each of them, maybe it'll be useful for me in the future, who knows!

Tea Party

This piece was inspired by some old old animations I used to watch as a kid and I remember loving the cute interactions people have drawn with Marine and Tails Doll. Especially since as a kid I thought Tails Doll was really scary so there was some comfort in knowing he's not that evil, haha (sadly I never read any comics, so I know almost nothing to Marine otherwise.. fake Sonic fan I know u_u )

Tried to go all out on backgrounds and I think that's where I realized I kinda enjoy drawing em!

Koraidon and Miraidon

My love for Pokemon was fading away, but the trailers made me appreciate the designs. Was drawn literally hours after the trailer dropped and I had no proper references nor their official arts to help me with, didn't help the trailers were all crunchy so didn't notice Miraidon's eyes were actually pixels! Guess makes sense, he is from the future after all

I really like how it turned out overall, in all honesty, even if I have some mistakes!

Bees

I remember I had so much to do in uni at the time and decided to destress by drawing realistic bee on a Minecraft bee plush lmao later got the plush on my birthday, fun fact! Not much else to say except this piece sticks out the most in my art summary

Impmon and the boys

So, before that I had a Hawkmon line I've drawn, but this one sticks out a lot all things considered. I believe, this is where I decided to use more 'painting' style with my normal shading, really love how the front Yaamon looks here!

Big Punch

A good way to end the year with this piece, drew this inbetween my uni works and in all honesty? As quick as it was, it looks really good. I miss drawing dynamic poses and I really want to do more pieces with this character just for that reason :'] Maybe in the future I'll have more creature/monster characters that can battle -- who doesn't love a good battle piece?

Now that that's done, what can I say about animations... not much this year, but there's definitely some thing!

Clusterhug

A gift I made for @DearDecay on his birthday with both of our OCs Alton and Kai (it's on 11th January, go say happy birthday then!!) which took me about 4 months. Really visible that it's a bit rushed due to time constraints and the fact I was visiting my family in December-January, but I'm happy I managed to finish it on time!

Sadly, it has the copyright song so it goes against Newgrounds policies. I promised to not do those anymore, though, only did this one cuz the song means a lot to both me and DearDecay and it's linked to the characters' relationship [:

Chapter 3 ending/ Rudy Deltarune Dies

The only thing I can say on this.. hehe funnie :) Done in less than 3 hours, thought it was a brilliant 1 second idea

Video Game Essayist Apology Video

Don't think anyone else was looking forward to see this one the most but I was, my proudest work this year, the work that got FRONTPAGED (most honorable badge of all Newgrounds for someone who usually misses with 'toons), aside of Clusterhug that obviously had more effort put into, this one came to me on a stroll and really had to write it down somewhere; eventually leading to me animating the entire idea. Based on some YouTubers who'd make homophobic jokes and take no shame in them but then shit and cry when they accidentally make fun of Persona fans (the strongest nation, obviously) lmao

I actually have more of him in the works, not to spoil much but the next video is Pass or Smash, literally started when it was hot and new but unfortunately didn't have time to continue :' ) It's half way done, really hoping in 2023 it'll drop.

And what a way to end the finished animations than with another Alton and Kai content! This one came to me in the middle of the night when I've had forgotten to take my meds for a week at that point. Don't know how or why I got so much motivation to finish it, but guess it's the raw power of ADHD that lead me through this piece. I still think it's an underrated work of mine!

Hello, lads

Hope you're all doing well and great, drinking water and resting and whatnot

I'm just going to make this update journal to let ya'll know I'm going to be inactive as the third year of animation course rolled in and we got a lot of work on the first week already. So far I come back home incapable of doing much due to huge fatigue, can't even do a simple task without chugging energy drinks lmao and because of that I doubt I'll draw much for myself

I'm not sure for how long this inactivity will last, and don't even know if by any chance after I'll write this journal there'll be a new drawing next week. It's hard to tell! But as for now what I'm seeing; will focus on college, get it all done and then hopefully come back in one piece and make new 'toons and whatnot.

I'd want to honestly alongside uni work on other animations I have that are collecting dust in my folders, but we'll see how that goes. I mean, it's much easier for me to draw a few frames once in awhile than sit down and try to come up with a brand new drawing each week.

So yeah, nuclear-smash is officially focusing on important things for once!

Hi, I'm working on a small animation which is basically "Meet the artist" but animated and I felt like the best way to find any suitable background song is to ask folks here who'd love to see their work being used somewhere!
